Updated: Senator Brownback sent a note to PowerlineBlog denying this call every took place. The Radio Show is standing by their story. At the same time, the DNC is trying to sue a Free Republic poster for publishing the story.
Kathleen Selebius is in some hot water. Her constituents didn't think much of her comments politicizing the tornado disaster in Greensburg, and many people questioned why she made the comments about a lack of military equipment because of the war in Iraq.
Swigart says the general feeling around the town is that residents were overwhelmed by the immediate response, and that the governor's fuss was for her own good. White House press secretary Tony Snow responded to Sebelius by saying that there was no request by Kansas officials for extra equipment, and that if there is anyone to blame, it's her.
Selebius backed down from her original statements, claiming that she was discussing the inability to confront additional disasters, because the first one was taken care (in direct contradiction to her own statements on not having Hummers, not being able to borrow equipment, and the pace of disaster cleanup).
Well, Quinn and Rose, talk show hosts on XM radio have a bombshell. A trusted source from Sen Brownback's office told them Selebius called to apologize to Brownback, claiming Howard Dean told her she had to take the shot at the President and the War.
The source has not been verified, but Quinn and Rose are sticking by their story, and if's true, the Howard Dean, Kathleen Selebius, and all of their defenders, including FiredUp Missouri and KCBlueBlog (who accused me of politicizing the story) all have some apologies to make.
