And if reports are accurate - our two Missouri Senators are working to make it happen.
Hot Air reports the amnesty immigration bill has 61 votes for cloture (meaning they shut off debate), based on allowing sixteen amendments to be voted on.
Are we about to be sold down the river?
Kit Bond (R) and Claire McCaskill (D), who have been doing a fine job of supporting the state of Missouri, are reportedly on the fence for this one - promising to vote for cloture if they get their amendments. The problem, of course, is that amendments can be voted down, but the senators will then get to say they tried to stop the bill and then voted against it.
If you believe Senate staffers, first he decided he was going to let only 24 amendments come to the floor and then he “sold” 16 of those slots to the bill’s critics in exchange for their pledge to vote for cloture when the time came. He already had 45 votes banked; according to the AP, the 16 new amendments “come from senators who helped derail the legislation earlier this month,” which strongly suggests that all of them voted against cloture the first time. Specifically named are Kit Bond, Barbara Boxer, John Ensign, Jim Webb, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Max Baucus, Jon Tester, Claire McCaskill, Chuck Grassley, John Thune, Norm Coleman, and Bernie Sanders.
Man I hope our senators aren't getting bought off here for cheap politics. This bill, and the president's support for it, are disastrous for the country. If Republicans thought that money was a problem before, they're in for world of hurt if this thing passes.
Cue the alternative Hail to the Chief music for Hillary and her Congressional majorities.
