I got an e-mail from Howard Dean that had me howling with laughter and shaking my head with disgust at the same time, something that's not easy to do and may have caused me to strain my neck.
Entitled, They Won't Steal Votes Again, it's a fundraising letter for the DNC.
It ends:
I've promised to build the infrastructure and develop the strategy Democrats need to fight everywhere, and this is exactly the kind of effort it takes. Our work may not be in the headlines right now, but it's how we are going to make an impact next year and in every election after that.
We all know what happened in Florida in 2000. We all know what happened in Ohio in 2004.
Help make sure it doesn't happen again in 2008.
Howard Dean is the Democratic Party Chairman. He insinuates that Republicans stole the election in Florida in 2000, and again in Ohio n 2004. That's right folks - the chairman of the Democratic Party is once again on record saying that the Republicans stole not only the disputed 2000 election, but the 2004 election as well. 118,000 votes in Ohio, and Howard Dean says the Republicans stole the election.
This tells you a lot about Howard Dean, and the Democratic party in general. If it's true, and we all know what happened in Ohio and Florida, how can the Democrats possibly stand still? If it's true and the Republicans really have subverted our democracy, then how can a fundraising letter be the sole extent of the actions taken by the national Democratic party?
If votes have been tampered with that put George W. Bush back in the White House, why aren't all of the people (those who know what happened in 2000 and 2004) up in arms?
If you truly believe what Howard Dean is saying, how can you possibly go about the regular business of government when an illegitimate president is in the White House?
You couldn't. You would be doing much more than writing letters asking for a few dollars for operations.
Which tells you all you need to know about Howard Dean. He'll say anything to get your money.
My question is who exactly is sending in money based on this e-mail? Must be the 35% of Democrats who believe Bush knew about 9/11.

I had dinner, a buffet, with Howard last Thursday. He may have you howling but he has raised more money than even the last chair, the great fundraiser. The Democrats are outraising the Repubz in every quarter since he took over the reigns. He is seriously changing the Democratic party into a financial power4house to go along with keeping the party on an even keel during this primary season. Laugh all you want, Howie is making things happen!
