Ohio's Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has decided that voting rights includes same day registration in traditionally Democratic districts. Taking advantage of a loophole, Ohioans will have a 30 day window to register to vote (without an ID), and get a ballot that is then sent to local boards for verification.
Today I got a n email from a PR Firm pushign Election Protection, a "non-paritisan group"headed created by People for the American Way (a far out liberal activist group that opposes any conservative judges). They were pushing their voting protection police, which are 10,000 liberals "protecting" the rights of people to vote across the US.
Here's the point. Democrats know that loose laws benefit them in the voting booth. They also know that sometimes people are disenfranchised when you attempt to enforce the law. The solution? Create broad, expansive laws that defy common sense (like using a photo ID to vote), and then sue the pants off any Republicans that try to stop you.
We feel your pain, Ohio. We too have a Democratic Secretary of State with close ties to progressive organizations whose office is stocked with former employees of those progressive organizations. The only hope for Republicans is to win big. If it's not close, they can't cheat.
I wonder if ProVote funded an Ohioans for Fair Elections fake blog? Richard von Glahn was from Ohio. Maybe Robin Carnahan can loan him to Jennifer Brunner for a fake press conference?
