    Howard Beale Is Running Scared

I was disappointed that Howard Beale didn't "post" at the DNC - maybe he was supposed to stay here in Missouri and keep working, or perhaps he just decided not to post to make his identity too obvious.

It is nice to see his short liveblogging posts on FiredUpMissouri.  He doesn't know what to say about Palin's powerful performance, and from what he writes, it's not even clear that watched the speech.  Partisan attack dogs are like that - they follow a script regardless of what is said.

Here's the reality. Obama gave a speech that could have been read by any Democratic politician in the last 30 years.  He had nothing new to say, and failed to do more than send tingles up the leg of the press.

Palin delivered a speech that lays claim to a new battleground in the 2008 election.  Women are excited, Conservatives are excited, and the result will be an army of volunteers from all walks of life working for McCain/Palin in the next 60 days.

As to the test - it's telling that the Obama campaign keeps comparing his record to hers.  She called him on it with this great line,

Some people use change to advance their careers.  John McCain uses his career to advance change.

Obama's central weakness isn't just his thin resume.  It's that every job he's held has been a stepping stone to a higher office. He always promises big things, but needs more power to get it done.  Palin has accomplishments in each office, and those drove her to higher office.

We know these people like Obama.  Fast-track executives who are great at self-promotion, but no one wants to work for them.  And every time he brings it up, the American people wonder why he's comparing himself with Palin, instead of McCain.

Look for Howard to get nastier and more personal in the next 60-some days.  Without an Obama presidency, who is going to fund all the left wing groups like ACORN, Pro-Vote, Gamaliel, Missourians for Fair Elections, and the other jobs programs for progressives?
