1) Barack Obama has signed an executive order giving only unions access to large federal contacts. Unions spent over $100 million in 2008 to elect Democratic candidates. Now Obama is funnelling tens of billions to the unions. In what universe is that not pay for play? The stimulus is clearly a Democratic payoff for the elections to its constituents. In his first major legislation, Obama has proven himself just another typical liberal big spender, working hard to ensure unions have the money and manpower to continue electing Democrats. This isn't new. This isn't hope. It's bribery, made legal. the only difference between Blago and the rest of the Democrats is semantics.
2) Sometimes liberals like to tell you that red states pay less in taxes and get more in spending. It's designed to prove some kind of hypocrisy on the part of conservatives. Don't buy it. When you're counting federal dollars to red states, it's important to evaluate how much is military spending and transportation.
If you're building a road in fly-over country to deliver food to New York City, is it really accurate to say that the red state is not paying its share of taxes? Would you say that Alaska, who gets paid for its natural resources, also falls in that category? What about states that send more soldiers per capita? House military installations?
Huge amounts of money is pooled in blue states. It doesn't mean that every rich person who pays a lot in taxes in liberal. It's a poor argument, designed to create a moral superiority for blue states by blurring the lines.
