FiredUp Missouri is up to its old tricks again, trying to use ridicule instead of fact in attacking Missouri conservatives. It's strange that a blog that hides behind fake names and a press exemption would be so closely tied to would-be monarchs of the Missouri Democratic Party, but then, we all know that focusing on climate change doesn't actually help the pocketbook of the same family.
The object this time is Todd Akin, who sides with the majority of the most educated American voters. The latest Rasmussen poll shows only 34% of American Likely Voters think Global Warming is man-made. Less than half think Obama believes global warming is man-made. Note these are likely voters, not the general population. ABC lists 61% of the public believing global warming, but the sample is skewed by the large numbers of those 18-29 who believe it's man-made. As people get older, and start looking into the facts themselves, that number drops.
I remember back in 6th grade my teachers warning me about the end of the world, and having us write essays to our parents about how we were all going to burn. Then I grew up, learned to do my own research, and recognized that the link between carbon dioxide and global warming is missing, but the link between state control of industry and government control of research grants is quite strong. I started looking at weather stations and realized how temperature readings have been changed significantly by urban sprawl. And I watched how Al Gore and the head of IPCC stand to benefit enormously, and how a cap and trade policy will not stop emissions growth at all.
I see Arctic ice at its highest extent in 5 years. East Antarctica added four times the ice lost in West Antarctica. And oh, we've just found out how to triple the efficiency of our coal production. Carbon is still our best source of energy, and of course we could go nuclear, but people who own wind farms don't want that either.
Here's a thought. How about FiredUp take a look at some more actual reporting, and focus a bit less on making snarky jokes that insult those of us who are brave enough to actually show our faces instead of hiding behind Jean Carnahan's skirt?
