When FiredUp starts lashing out at reporters and statewide bloggers, you know they're starting to get worried about their impact on state journalists. If they can't push news, then what good are they? After mostly shutting down their fake authors for the last two weeks, FiredUp fake accounts have poked their head up and started writing again.
Sherman Potter and Eleanor_Roosevelt contributed as .Sean was otherwise occupied with the birth of a child but from lack of sleep or just plain bad luck, Sean tipped his hand on one of the anonymous authors.
Blunt Ed is one of the fake authors in the 16000 range for FiredUp. I identified that block earlier, but the difficulty in finding the author's blog told me something was fishy. Well, the jig is up, as Sean made the mistake of using one of his signature lines on both his blog and as Blunt Ed.
Do a search on "Deep Thought" on the FiredUp Website. What you'll see is just three authors writing these - Blunt Ed, Sean, and Sherman Potter. Seeing as Blunt Ed is not a standard author (you can't search Blunt Ed in the search box and bring up the title), you know it must be a subname for the admin, which is Sean. Sherman Potter is another of the fake names (in at 16173), but we've seen a change in the kinds of posts Mr. Potter writes, and it's clear the Sean has been popping in guest posts on a regular basis using multiple names.
This is interesting because Sean the author lashed out at Steve Walsh of MissouriNet today, claiming Steve wasn't sufficiently objective for Sean's taste. As ludicrous as it is for a paid political blogger whose job is to harass reporters and drive personal attacks on Missouri Republicans to call anyone else out for being objective, it certainly is welcome to know that Sean has the onions to occasionally use his own name.
We say occasionally because Blunt Ed the author attacked Dave Catanese and Chad Livengood for not printing Democratic press reports about Roy Blunt, and now that we know that Sean writes under that pseudonym, we can easily tie the two together.
So let's be clear. Sean Soendker Nicholson is using some of the fake names at FiredUp to attack state reporters who don't sufficiently regurgitate his bile. We don't know how bad it is. This has clearly been a tactic all along - to create relationships with reporters under his name, but to pretend someone else is doing so when he needs an outlet to cast aspersions on the honesty and integrity of a reporter. Now considering just how unethical and false the writers are at FiredUp, it could be that Sean has multiple names besides Blunt Ed, George Caleb Bingham, and .Sean. We don't know the extent of their perfidy, but we do know this. The site is now completely a mouthpiece of the Missouri Democratic Party, and considering their traffic and requests for money are not sufficient to pay a full-time writer, someone is funding this for-profit LLC.
I guess the question we should be asking is not why Sean feels the need to anonymously attack reporters that don't help the Carnahans attack their political opponents. The real question is why he doesn't feel the need to attack other reporters.

uh oh.....
