Redstate has a fun project they've been working on. That project is the rolodex of ACORN CEO, Bertha Lewis. Lewis has been all over television defending her organization against the undercover videos pushed out by BigGovernment.com, and of course there's the problems of voter fraud registration, embezzlement, housing and foreclosure issues, and the fact that ACORN is essentially a GetOutTheVote operation for Democrats.
Certainly that's the case in Missouri, where ACORN/SEIU/MissouriProVote/CertainDemocraticCampaigns work hand in hand from the same offices to elect progressives to office. But enough chatter. Surely you want to know who from Missouri is on the Lewis rolodex? Well, RedState has graciously forwarded me the Missouri contacts. Drum roll, please.
Jeff Ordower: Jeff's current work email and phone number are listed, but not his cell phone. Jeff is the Midwest Regional Director for ACORN, based here in St Louis.
Radio Personality Lizz Brown of the former WGNU is one of the older contacts. She's no longer on air, but it's fun to see she knew Bertha way back when.
Sara Howard: Sara is the current Communications Director for Russ Carnahan, newly hired away from SEIU. What makes Sara's contact unique is her address information is from SEIU, and includes her work and cell number. One wonders what that connection is about. Why would Sara's name on the contact list for the CEO of ACORN mean anything? Surely Ms. Lewis is a well-connected woman, and she has lots of names on the list?
She doesn't have everyone. For example, Glenn Burleigh, the Chief Organizer for Missouri ACORN, who lately has been making the rounds with local journalists, is not on the list. Well, he's not named. His personal, non-acorn email is on the list, but it's intermingled with that of former St Louis ACORN board member Mary Hutchinson. There's a story there for later. There are also several numbers to call. It's a little late to be calling them, but there are several of them listed. I wonder who will pick up when I call this week? I hope it's Glenn. I have some questions for him about ACORN Housing he hasn't had to answer. I wonder if he knows Gwen Cogshell? Dwight Vaughn? Pat Sivels?
State Rep Jamilah Nasheed is on the list. So is former ACORN guy Ken McCoy. You know who else is?
A guy named Nate. I wonder if that's Nate Toler, who worked for ACORN in 2004 and complained about quality control in Kansas City and Missouri. His cell phone number is listed as well.
Of course, one has to ask if being on someone's rolodex is really much of a story. Perhaps not, but there is a difference in the quality of the contacts. Most of the contacts are just names and email addresses, sometimes with general work numbers. Others are more detailed, with address and cell phone information. That's what makes it such a good story for RedState. Here in Missouri, we have to ask, how does Sara Howard get on the same list as ACORN members. There aren't many Missouri numbers or email addresses, but Sara is listed. How does she know Bertha Lewis? Bertha isn't new to ACORN, but she is new to the CEO position. Prior to this appointment, Lewis was the Executive Director of New York ACORN, while also being deeply involved in ACORN’s national development and campaigns.
Did they work together? Perhaps on the minimum wage campaign in 2006 that Sara helped run, using ACORN workers as ground troops while SEIU managed the process with their phone bank? Was it perhaps the 2004 race baiting flyer Howard championed, accusing Republicans of suppressing black voters through the use of an image of civil rights protestors hosed by white cops?
There's a reason I bring this up, and it's not just because Sara has a history of using racial imagery to elect white Democrats. It's because there is one more name on that list. It's the name and phone number of a print broker. By itself, that's not a big deal, but one has to ask why Bertha Lewis, CEO of ACORN, and from New York, would have the name and phone number of a Missouri business that handles printing. As we learned from the Jeff Smith affair, printing campaign flyers can be hazardous work. Printing outrageous campaign flyers can actually ruin careers. One wonders who exactly made up these flyers, and which printing company decided to print them. ACT, yet another in the long line of left wing organizations no longer exists, disbanding after the 2004 election (although they did pay a $770,000 fine for violating campaign finance law). One wonders if the name of this business in Bertha's rolodex isn't a clue of some kind. Did ACORN utilize a print broker on behalf of Sara Howard either in 2004 or 2006? That would be interesting. It would have to be something serious enough to merit attention from Bertha on a national level before she became CEO.
I'm always careful when it comes to naming individuals and businesses, so I won't be publishing the name of the print broker today, or possibly ever. I will look into it, though. Sara is on record stating that a flyer that accuses Republicans of suppressing votes using disgusting imagery of hosing an innocent man is a fair statement. She actually defended it to Missouri and national journalists. I guess we're going to find out if she still feels that way. If that's a dead end, we can start looking into how ACORN and SEIU worked together in 2006. The Internet Wayback machine doesn't allow for scrubbing.
Either way, we know this. SEIU is ACORN is Missouri Pro Vote is half a dozen other groups in all but name in Missouri. The employees bounce from one group to another, then into Democratic campaigns and state office. The local Democrats are looking to deny any and all involvement with ACORN, while what's left of ACORN in Missouri pretends we're not talking about them. But we know that game. And it's coming undone in public.
Thanks to Redstate for the names and research.
