This is Russ Carnahan's campaign manager, doing double duty as the campaign spokesperson.
"Letting Big Oil drill without oversight in the wake of this disaster is a position that defies logic – unless you realize that bigger profits for Big Oil would directly benefit Ed Martin’s bank account," Carnahan campaign Angela Barranco said in a statement.
I'll bet a six pack of Pale Ale that she has Alan Grayson on her speed dial for campaign advice. Seriously - this is just about the weakest attack I've seen this campaign cycle.
Let's break down the oil spill scandal and its oily Democratic waters.
BP wrote the Cap and Trade legislation Russ Carnahan voted for. BP stands to make hundreds of billions from Cap and Trade. BP lobbyists hang out with Russ at Maryland Yacht Clubs. The stimulus bill Russ voted on but admitred he didn't read gave his brother $90 million dollars, and cap and trade would make the Carnahan family wind farms competitive in the energy market. Goldman Sachs stands to make hundreds of billions off cap and trade. And to top it off, Franklin Raines, the former disgraced CEO of Fannie Mae, owns the patent on a cap and trade system, and no one has ever explained how that is possible.
President Obama, finally coming to Missouri to campaign for Robin Carnahan, was the single biggest recipient of campaign cash from BP, Goldman Sachs, and Fannie Mae.
In other words, all of the bad guys in this scenario are big Democratic donors and flunkies, intent on passing cap and trade as a response to the BP oil spill, even if they have to do so after voters throw them out of office in November.
And Russ thinks the problem is stock ownership in Exxon Mobil. Maybe if Ed's brother owned stock in BP, Russ would go easy on him.

What is wrong with investing in a good American Company? Oil is the lifeblood of our economy and our way of life. Yet, you have FOOLS like Jesse Jackson protesting and boycotting independently owned BP gas stations. I guess he didn't shakedown BP like he has with other corporations. Carnahan's brother received 90 to 95 million for a windfarm. That is something the Press might want to look into.
