Out of the mouths of babes, eh? There's a reason you don't let interns handle your social media. One such intern, a Mark Durham out in D.C., took exception to a series I'm developing on Families USA and their connections to SEIU and the White House.
This young man tells us how Families USA, instead of being a non-partisan, independent think tank on health care issues, in truth is the propaganda organ behind every healthcare story to come out of the White House.
We’ve also been working pretty closely with the White House on implementation of the bill, no matter how many roadblocks like the one discussed above that come up. A lot of that work involves feeding speechwriters for the administration stories about health care consumers.
Whenever you hear a speech extolling the virtues of health care reform and why it’s necessary, pay attention to when any specific, seemingly random person is mentioned. That person was fed to them probably by us. We have a huge database of consumers who have had some health care issue, and we send them off to the White House or Congress, and they are incorporated into speeches.
His words. He admits that far from being respected independent analysts, they are the drivers of the media, rubbing elbows with the same cast of power brokers and giving the White House tear jerker stories to manipulate the public. "Seemingly random?" Does this kid not understand the meaning of propaganda?
He also makes the claim that Families USA isn't secretive about their donors. But that information isn't on the website as he claims, and it's not on the 990's, and in fact, Ron Pollack has expressly said the 990's are all that he's going to admit to.
What else about Families USA? Oh yeah - they're the ones running with the powerpoint that says don't talk about costs in healthcare anymore.
On Thursday, Families USA hosted a "messaging" conference call with Democrats and Democratic allies, admitting that ObamaCare has not in fact become more popular since it passed. Families USA called for a wholesale shift in how Democrats now attempt to sell its handiwork to the public, the central theme being that "The law is not perfect, but it does good things and helps many people. Now we'll work to improve it."
So what we have is a Democratic front organization that successfully manipulates the press while pretending to be non-partisan, feeds the White House propaganda sound bites, and when the chips are down, is caught plotting electoral strategy for Democratic officeholders.
Move Along Here, Nothing To See?

Gee, I wonder why Mr. Pollock didn't mention his connections in his speech at Kirkwood Baptist Church a few weeks ago?
He also extolled the wonders of Obamacare during that speech...what's happened in the last month or so to change his tune?
