The RNC reached out to 24thstate.com today with a column from RNC Chairman Michael Steele on the state of the Missouri economy. While I'm not usually up for posting general press releases, after speaking to the press contact, I understood this is a broader and part of a personalized outreach attempt by the RNC to connect with conservative blogs across the country, and I fully support that.
This is the guest column in full.

For Missouri, the Obama-Carnahan economy would mean higher taxes, fewer jobs, and more burdensome government regulation for small businesses. Despite an $862 billion stimulus package, the Obama Administration has failed to create jobs and national unemployment remains at an unacceptable 9.5 percent. Still – the Obama Administration is moving ahead with more spending and bigger government at the expense of our children and grandchildren.
Last week, Missourians went to the ballot box and delivered an overwhelming rebuke of Barack Obama’s signature achievement, ObamaCare. Despite more than 70 percent of the electorate voting to oppose ObamaCare’s individual mandate, the White House arrogantly dismissed Missouri’s vote as meaningless. Robin Carnahan not only failed to stand up and defend her own state, but she also voted against Prop C – placing her at odds with the vast majority of the people she hopes to represent. It’s clear to the people of Missouri that the Obama Administration is leading America down a path towards perpetually high unemployment, massive growth of government, and a culture of political bailouts. Missouri voters already know what they can expect from the Obama-Carnahan economy. America can’t afford another Senator who will simply rubberstamp Barack Obama’s big-spending, liberal agenda – against the will of the people. It’s time to cut through the rhetoric and demand results from this Administration.
Below are some facts about the Obama Administration’s impact on Missouri:
· Fewer Jobs: Since the stimulus passed, Missouri has lost over 48,300 jobs.
· High Unemployment: Since the stimulus passed, state unemployment has jumped from 8.5 percent to 9.1 percent.
· Tax Hikes: The Democrats’ tax plan would raise the federal income tax by $1,510 on the average Missouri family.
· Government-Run Health Care: Missouri voters decisively rejected the individual mandates in ObamaCare that Robin Carnahan enthusiastically supports.
· Cap and Trade: Robin Carnahan’s support for cap and trade energy taxes could cost Missouri as many as 58,900 jobs.
In 2009, St. Louis incomes fell for the first time in forty years, and 56 percent of Missouri residents disapprove of Barack Obama’s job performance. Click Here to View the RNC Web Video: Deficit of Hope.

My God, is he finally talking sense? Please, please, please, I pray!
