Some of you may be tempted to blame the winter snow and ice on it being February in Missouri. Others are going to want to say it's evidence of global cooling, and other still that it's global warming. Despite the uselessness of using a single storm, or even a combination of storms in a given year as proof of anything, it's tempting to use the weather outside to back up your political designs, especially if that includes massive subsidies to your favored industries.
But one thing is clear. Politicians don't have a clue what they're talking about, and neither do many of the so-called climate scientists who can't seem to replicate results, provide raw data, or even learn to not giggle about hiding the decline on their email.
The biggest reason to not trust global warming, climate change, climate chaos folks is their own words. They alter their statements with every storm, every report, and every fraudulent Nobel prize.
I'd like to introduce you a series of Democratic Senators talking about the lack of snow being proof of global warming. The dates range from 2002 to 2009.
Exhibit 1: Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Amy Klobuchar, Jay Inslee, and the departed Robert Byrd.
They're saying no snow from global warming in Minnesota. No snow in the California because of global warming. They aren't talking about more snow or more violent storms. That didn't happen until 2010, when it was clear that snow was making a comeback.
I'd also like to introduce into evidence quotations from climate scientist David Viner from the CRU unit of the University of East Anglia, (the ones with the climategate emails), talking about snowfall as a thing of the past back in 2000.
According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event". "Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said...
...Heavy snow will return occasionally, says Dr Viner, but when it does we will be unprepared. "We're really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time," he said.
Note that Viner is saying that when they do occasionally get a snow in England, it would be a lot like snow in say, Tampa. No plows, no salt - no idea how to drive on ice. There's nothing he's saying there about warming temperatures creating more snow. In fact, he said the exact opposite.
Al Gore may be out saying that winters would have more snow, but he's not backing that up with any science. He's quoting a Chicago Tribune writer. Not exactly the peer-reviewed specificity we've come to expect from the Goracle.
What you're seeing is pure fraud, brought on by panic. The media has been touting the "hottest" year on record nonsense, trying to keep the idea of steadily increasing temperatures in front of the public, but no less than James Hansen himself admits that global temperature in 2010 differed from 2005 by 2 hundredths of a degree Fahrenheit, (.018 F). You should keep in mind that the "global temperature" isn't measured in a precise manner, as it's impossible to accurately average temperatures across the world. You couldn't do it in your house right now, and yet we're to believe that the measuring is so exact, and so accurate, that they can measure an average of hundredths of a degree, despite massive loss of temperature gathering stations and no clear agreement from any agency on how that data is measured?
I know. It's all very confusing. Just remember this. If prophesies of environmental doom come attached with massive government subsidies to progressives looking for green jobs, they're lying to you. If there is a problem, the massive government subsidies to progressives looking for green jobs won't do a damn thing to fix them.

The only accurate prediction the Global Warming crowd has ever made is that more funding will make its way to their pockets.

From 2001 through Dec, 2010 the atmospheric CO2 increased by 21.8% of the total increase from 1800 to 2001 while the average global temperature has not increased significantly and the average of the five reporting agencies has been declining rapidly since the peak of the last El Nino in March 2010. The 21.8% CO2 increase is the significant measurement, not the comparatively brief time period.
THE FACTORS THAT RESULTED IN THE 20th CENTURY GLOBAL TEMPERATURE RUN-UP HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED.
The contribution of added atmospheric carbon dioxide is between small and insignificant. The time-integral of sunspot numbers (which correlates with the average altitude and thus average temperature of clouds) and effective sea surface temperature are the main contributors.
A simple equation, with inputs of accepted measurements from government agencies, calculates the average global temperatures since 1895 with 88% accuracy (87.6% if CO2 is assumed to have no influence). See the equation, links to the source data, an eye-opening graph of the results and how they are derived in the pdfs at http://climaterealists.com/index.php?tid=145&linkbox=true (see especially the pdfs made public on 4/10/10 and 6/27/10).
The future average global temperature trend that this equation calculates is down.
